Professional qualification means a competence to carry out a specific activity or work and that allows specific professional employment.
The Act No. 179 of 30 March 2006 on Verification and Recognition of Further Education Results offers to gain a full-bodied certificate on attained qualification based on one's skills and knowledge verification with no importance on the way how he/she had acquired it - if at school or at work. The law allows adults to attain the Certificate of professional qualification recognition based on an exam where gained skills and knowledge is proved.
Professional qualification can be a part of a full qualification that is freely applicable at the labour market. If one attains all partial qualifications of particular professional education, he/she can pass the final exam and attain the full qualification which is connected to a particular level of education.
The world of labour market supports the importance of professional qualifications because often employers do not require their emploees to attain certain level of education (apprenticeship or maturita exam certificate) but they are satisfied if the employee master certain work activities needed for a particular occupation. The law supports bigger flexibility, prepareness and employment of persons at the labour market.
All qualifications are grouped to National Framework of Qualifications. It is a database of all full and professional qualifications. National Institution of Technical and Vocational Education in cooperation with social partners and departmental ministries have form qualification and assessing standards for each professional qualification. The qualification standard definies what qualities a qualification holder should master. Assessing standard states precisely via professional competeneces what and how the applicant for professional qualification recognition has to prove in an examination.
The school has been accredited (has been authorized) to offer applicants to verify the professional level of unqualified applicants. When they successfully pass the final test they will attain the "Certificate of Professional Qualification" in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Economics.
